Lip Fillers Sydney
Full, soft, supple lips are something most women dream of. The good news is there is a non-surgical option to lip augmentation that helps achieve fuller, plumper lips after just one session. Lip fillers are a popular cosmetic enhancement option because they create amazing results with minimal invasiveness and downtime.
What are lip fillers?
Lip fillers are filler substances found naturally in the body that are injected into and around the lips to enchance the shape, volume, structure and overall appearance of the mouth. Some of the substances used for lip fillers are collagen, fat and hyaluronic acid.
How are lip fillers administered?
Lip fillers are injected into the lips and areas around the mouth. During the process, the physician administering the injections will mark the injection sites before they begin and apply a local anesthetic cream or injection to the area. The process only takes a few minutes per injection site and can be done in a dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon’s office.
Are there any side effects to lip fillers?
Most patients only experience minimal, localized side effects from lip filler injections. These localized effects may include swelling, redness or bruising of the injection site. Over-the-counter pain medications may be taken to relieve discomfort and most side effects diminish within a few days after the procedure.
Are the results of lip fillers instantly noticeable after the procedure?
The lips will have a swollen appearance after the lip filler injections so the final result may not be immediately noticeable. It takes about one week for the swelling to subside and for the fillers to settle into their targeted areas.
Do lip filler injections hurt?
Because a local anesthetic is used during the lip filler injection procedure, patients should not experience any pain at all. Some may report very mild discomfort or pin-prick sensations at the injection sites during the procedure.
How long do lip fillers last?
Lip fillers are temporary cosmetic enhancements that usually last about six months. At that time, patients may be reevaluated by their physician to determine whether additional injections are needed or desired and which course of action is best, based on their results.
Is there any downtime associated with lip fillers?
Generally speaking, there is no downtime associated with the lip filler process. Patients are free to return to work and regular activities within twenty four hours in most cases. However, some patients may have some restrictions on using their mouth and lips for a minimal time period, based on which fillers are used and their level of discomfort.
Will health insurance pay for lip filler injections?
Because lip filler injections are elective cosmetic enhancement procedures, they are typically not covered by health insurance plans.
Are there any health conditions that may exclude someone from having lip filler injections?
Patients with some pre-exisiting conditions like diabetes or lupus should not have lip filler injections. Additionally, those with blood clotting disorders, certain allergies or infections and pregnant or nursing mothers should also refrain from having cosmetic enhancement procedures. Patients should always discuss their medical history with their phyisician and disclose any medications they are currently taking, which may interfere with the procedure.
